A patch kit is a package containing inner tube patches and preparation materials. The exact composition of the kit can vary. Typically, you’ll find a scraper or sandpaper to clean oxidation off the surface of an inner tube, and glue. If your patch kit contains glue, it will be contact cement. People often assume the patch should be applied while the glue is wet. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Contact cement should dry fully. Then, without touching the sensitive surface of the patch after removing a sheet of backing plastic, press it onto the dried glue, and it will stick flawlessly. Some patch kits still contain steel scrapers. If used roughly, these can cause additional punctures.
